Okay Semkae…. I finally wrote something about Tanzania (some X-file stuff!).
Since you have never attended a healing-prayer session, this would certainly catch your attention.

You all know that bibi had a fracture of her femur which was then operated. Now about two months after the operation, bibi is doing very well. So well that she wants some action and in Bibi’s world that means prayers and healing sessions. She has been listening to some miracle healing advertisements for one week before she finally decided she must go and get cured. Well I am without work, and I was excited. Miracle healings have only been stories to me. This time I have someone I know, who can’t walk. I just wanted to see the miracle! Hallellujah!
On 21st of March I took my camera and drove Bibi to the congregation of healers. We drove in the Escudo with Mom and Edina. When we got there, it was nothing but impressive.
The Church, is located in a multi-complex building. Radio, Hall, NGO, Canteen, Seminar Rooms and even river Jordan!!!
.
One must agree the place is well organized. Just as we were thinking how we would carry bibi, five highly motivated men and women came to help us carry bibi into the hall.
The Hall was very spacious, maybe capable of taking in about 600 people. But what really took me by surprise is the Public address system. The speakers were massive…. And loud! Even reaching dangerous levels for the ear. The stage was well decorated (like a wedding). And the preachers (performers) were dancing to the tunes of gospel Music.
In Germany I saw rock shows in churches and in Tanzania I was witnessing Zaire music (Lingala, Bolingo). Don’t get me wrong, this is not negatively meant. It’s just new. I think churches have signed a universal pact to take over the discos. Because that is exactly what happened. Everybody was dancing. I could not resist the tunes and started tapping my feets!
Then it was praying time. Suddenly everybody started talking in strange languages. This was very weird. I have never seen such rituals before. But in the end it looked like some mild form of self-hypnosis.
Before the preaching started, they collected money. Next came an hour of you-have- problems and Jesus-is-the-answer. I have got the point and looong time ago! And I think the worshippers have understood that point more than me… why should one come again and again to hear the same stories… just changed a bit. It’s like watching Movies….you know most endings. So these sessions might be more or less like entertainment. Others go to Movies and discos….why not some prayer sessions?
At some point I was tired and got out. Then I heard strange languages again. It was healing time!! To my disappointment nothing really happened. Only a dozen of fainted women and 2 men.
It is hard to say whether the fainting was natural or caused by fleeing demons. But did Michael Jackson also have Jesus besides him? Michael was also making girls faint…. Without taking out demons.
Well keep an open mind. X.

Kajiru, what a vivid account of your day with bibi. It almost felt like I was there. And of course the all too familiar mulder/scully-you-be-the-judge ending wasn't bad either. X.
You said you took the camera with you. Where are the photos?
thank you for commenting. The internet connection is very poor, hence the missing pictures
I wish i was there. its always nice to feel bibi's passion. you just reminded me of the way bibi used to talk about Moses Kulola.
I understand you said the connection was slow but boy, i can't wait to see the photographs you took. and wht about the machimboni photographs? It would be good to see you in tani boi attire.
Machimboni Blog will be coming... but sorry no photographs from there.... will tell you why.
Dr. Kajiru and Family,
I was just visiting your “Blog” after missing you a lot and learned with keen interest the story or rather your experience at the “Congregation of Healers” and was just asking myself…., “Why aren’t my Prayers Answered? I also paid much attention to this because I just happen to stop-by at Masaki in March of 2008 and saw Bibi in that wheelchair and was not happy about her condition. I have a few pictures I took with her and will share with you soon. First, thanks for the pictures and I think you have a very beautiful baby. Let’s go back to the subject matter, the main questions here are; a) Are all prayers answered? b) Do we really understand God’s answers or due to our limited knowledge, understanding and wisdom we cannot even tell if our prayers have been answered? c) What contributes to effective or ineffective prayers? d) Do we really understand who God is?
Now Dr. Kajiru, be ready because I am about to share my experiences with God and a few things about Him in your Blog and how I (Kadari Lincoln Singo) try to understand Him through the teachings of the Bible; the second part of this discussion will focus on prayers because I believe that’s what the “Congregation of Healers” used to try to heal Bibi but their prayers were ineffective.
WHO IS GOD, AND WHAT ARE HIS POWERS:
I) Some Key facts about the Creation and the Universe:
1. Light travels at a constant, finite speed of 186,000 mi/sec. A traveler, moving at the speed of light, would circum-navigate the equator approximately 7.5 times in one second. By comparison, a traveler in a jet aircraft, moving at a ground speed of 500 mph, would cross the continental U.S. once in 4 hours.
2. According to Laura Whitlock of NASA, “There are too many stars for scientists to actually count one-by-one, so other methods of estimating the total number of stars are used”. Scientists believe that, (It’s amazing to hear that even Scientists believe), there are on the order of 1021 stars in our Universe. If you write that number out, it looks like this: 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. This is a lot of stars!
3. While the Earth is 12,756 Kilometers in Diameter, Jupiter is 11.2 times the diameter of the Earth at 142, 800 Kilometers and the Sun’s diameter is 9.7 times the diameter of Jupiter.
4. As compared to other stars, the Sun is about average; red giants like Betelgeuse are about 700 times bigger than our Sun (and roughly 50 times as massive). Betelgeuse is also about 14,000 times brighter than the Sun. Red supergiants dwarf the Sun.
5. The Sun's mass is roughly 1.99 x 1030 kg. This is about 333,000 times the mass of the Earth. The Sun contains 99.8% of all of the mass of the Solar System.
6. Jupiter has four large moons and dozens of smaller ones (there are about 60 known moons so far).
7. Saturn has a lot of moons (33 discovered as of August, 2004). There are 18 named moons and about a dozen others that have not been named yet.
8. The sun's radius is about 100 times that of the Earth, meaning that about 1.12 million Earths could fit inside it, as could about 930 Jupiters.
9. In general, the continents stand about three miles above the ocean floor. According to the National Geographic Atlas, the deepest-known part of the ocean measures 10,924 meters (35,839 feet), in the Marianas Trench near Guam. If the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest (29,141 feet), were to be placed into this trench, it would be covered by over 1.25 miles of water.
10. The sun's light takes about 8 minutes to reach the Earth after it has been emitted from the sun's surface. There is nothing out in space to prevent the sun's light from going infinitely far, in principle.
11. The Bible says, “In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the spirit of God was hovering over the waters” (Genesis 1: 1-2)
II) Some facts about God (According to the Bible).
1. God is a living Person: He is not merely an idea, a myth, a figment of the imagination. He is a real being. “He is the living God, and steadfast forever” (Daniel 6:26)
2. God has a Dwelling Place: “Hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place” (1 Kings 8:39)
3. God can see and Hear: “The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers” ( 1 Peter 3:12)
4. God Thinks and Remembers: For He knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust” (Psalm 103:14)
5. God is generous: “No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11)
6. God is eager to be helpful: “I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that though shouldest go” (Isaiah 48:17)
7. God is Approachable: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16)
8. God is eternal: He endures. He is not here today and gone tomorrow. “He is the same yesterday, and today, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8)
9. There is never time God did not exist: “Before the Mountains were brought forth, or ever though hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, though art God” (Psalm 90:2)
10. There Never will be time when He will cease to exist: “For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say I live for ever” (Deuteronomy 32:40)
11. His Kingdom is everlasting: Thy Kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations” (Psalm 145:13)
12. God is Immortal: “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever” (1 Timothy 1:17)
13. God is Omnipotent: He has all the power at His Command: “Both riches and honor come of thee, and though reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all” (1 Chronicles 29:12)
14. There is nothing He cannot do: “I know that you canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee” (Job 42:2)
15. God does as He pleases: “But our God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever he hath pleased” (Psalm 115:3)
16. God considers nothing impossible: “With men this is impossible; but with God, all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26)
17. God is Omniscient: He knows everything. There is nothing hidden from Him. “For his eyes are upon the ways of man, andhe seeth all his doings” (Psalm 147:5)
18. There is nothing he does not understand: “His understanding is infinite” (Psalm 147:5)
19. There is no word that He does not hear: “For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, though knowest it altogether” (Psalm 139:4)
20. There is nothing he does not see: “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, though art there: If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me” (Psalm 139:7-10)
21. Darkness hides nothing from Him: “Yeah, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee” (Psalm 139:12)
22. God is the source and wellspring of all Knowledge and Wisdom: “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out” (Romans 11:33)
23. The future is clear to him as the past: “Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them” (Isaiah 42:9)
24. There are no Secrets He does not know: “He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him” (Daniel 2:22)
25. God is Infinite: He is without limitations of any kind. Not only in power, wisdom, and knowledge, but also in righteousness: “My righteous shall be forever, and my salvation from generation to generation” (Isaiah 51:8)
III) Are all the prayers answered?
1. Scripture teaches that God does answer our prayers (John 16:24); but Scripture also says that there are some conditions for effective prayer. What are some reasons the Bible gives for God not answering our prayers?
2. We may also need to understand that God’s ways are not our ways, neither our thoughts His. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD; as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
3. Due to our limited nature, we can never tell if all of our prayers have been answered, why God does not respond to our prayers the way we want, and why he answered our prayers the way He did.
IV) Effective vs. Ineffective prayers:
1. There is no doubt that about God’s willingness to answer. “Call unto me, and I will answer” He says (Jeremiah 33:3)
2. Nor is there any doubt about God’s ability to answer. (Matthew 7:7-8)
3. Nevertheless it is clearly evident, from everybody’s experience, that some prayers are not answered. Why are CONDITIONS attached to prayers? There are indeed. Here are Some:
a) You must have faith: “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” (Matthew 21:22)
James wrote:
“But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does” (James 1:6-8).
Believing is perhaps the best known condition for prayer. But there are other reasons prayer is not answered.
b) We ask with wrong motives/Sinful Desire.
“When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures” (James 4:3). You must cherish NO sinful desire. “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18)
c) Un-confessed sin separates us from God, so that He cannot hear.
“Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities (sins) have separated you from God; your sins have hidden his face from you so that He will not hear” (Isaiah 59:1-2).
d) We set up idols in our hearts that come between us and God.
“Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all?” (Ezekiel 14:3).
e) We don't answer those who cry to us for help: “If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered” (Proverbs 21:13).
f) We don't remain in God/God's Word doesn't remain in us: “If you remain in me and my word remains in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be given to you” (John 15:7).
g) We must be Patient: “I waited patiently for my Lord, (Says David) and he inclined unto me and heard my cry” (Psalm 40:1)
h) We must be thankful: “Have NO anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6)
i) We must resign to His Will: “And this is the confidence which we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us” (1 John 5:14)
j) We must pray in the Name of Jesus: “Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it and that my father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it” (John 14:13-14)
What does God always promise to give to those who believe?
1. Salvation
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).
2. Forgiveness of Sins
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
3. Wisdom
“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5).
Most importantly, we must belong to God before we can communicate with God. “He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God” (John 8:47).
Sometimes we don't see or understand God's answers.
God is all-knowing and can see things that we can't. The Bible tells us to trust God, rather than our own understanding of what's best for us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
The Bible also says that God works in ways that we sometimes can't understand:
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declared the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9).
1 Corinthians 13:12 tells us that now we see things dimly, as in a mirror, but someday we will see clearly and understand how God answered our prayers.
Please keep in touch. I have missed you a lot and Masaki in general. You know that’s home away from home…..I can’t wait to meet all those guys there one day…!! On my trip there I only saw bibi and Semkae….!! That was not good. I will have to plan another trip soon. Thanks.
